Discussion: Can China and the US cooperate on regional security?

US Secretary of State John Kerry’s China visit saw a major push for cooperation on the DPRK nuclear tensions. But, Kerry’s visit comes hot on the heels of trips to ASEAN nations where he called for a united front against China’s activities in the South China Sea. Can Washington seek Beijing’s aid while also working against what China considers to be its core interests?
