Data reveals that 134 marathon-related events were registered with the Chinese Athletic Association in 2015, 83 more than in 2014. The 134 events attracted 1.5 million participants from nearly 90 countries and regions. The Financial Times suggests that running is the “new religion” of the Chinese middle class.
