Foreign ministers and diplomats met in Beijing on Thursday for the fifth Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, where Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke about the challenges and development in Asia’s security issues. Xi previously proposed a “New Asia Security Concept” at the 2014 summit, which seeks to establish “common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security in Asia”. Can the region develop such a framework in the coming years? What about nuclear issues with the DPRK? And the security situation in the Middle East?
Join us for a discussion with Mr. Teng Jianqun, Director of the Center for Arms Control at the China Institute of International Studies; in Tehran, Mohammed Marandi, Professor and Dean of World Faculty Studies at the University of Tehran; and in Moscow, Mr. Dmitri Trenin, director of the Carnegie Moscow Center.
