Discussion: Race for the next UN Secretary-General

As long-time UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon prepares to step down, questions of regional representation and gender may play a factor in the selection of his replacement. Eight candidates will debate and answer questions in public forums in the coming weeks. What qualities are necessary in a good Secretary-General? Have previous UN heads fallen short? And will the new selection procedure prove effective? Join us for a discussion with Professor Liu Baocheng, dean of the Center for International Business Ethics at the University of International Business and Economics; in New York, professor Jean Krasno, lecturer at the City College of New York and Columbia University; and Mr. Luis Costa Ribas, a former managing editor at Voice of America.
