US security forces have arrested a suspect in connection with the bomb blast in Manhattan last weekend, as well as other attempted bomb attacks in New York and New Jersey. Ahmad Kahn Rahami is a naturalized Afghan-American, whose friends and family claim his personality changed after he traveled to Afghanistan and Pakistan a few years ago. The bomb attack, which injured 29 people in the Chelsea district, combined with a knife attack in a mall in Minnesota indicate that homegrown terrorism is becoming a far more pressing problem for the US. Yang Mingjie from the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, Thomas Ruskin from the CMP Protective and Investigative Group and Jim Walsh from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology discuss the issue.
