After five years of negotiations, the TPP trade deal has finally reached an agreement, although it is expected to be another two years before it goes into effect. Is this a true victory for the countries involved? Why isn’t China involved, and how should we interpret Obama’s comment that the TPP will allow the US – and not “countries like China” to write the rules of the Asia-Pacific in the 21st century?
