Dog helps rear abandoned tiger cub twins at German zoo

Two tiger cubs that were abandoned by their mother at a zoo in northern Germany have been reared at a keeper’s home with the help of her dog.

One-month-olds Peach and Pearl were rejected by their mother immediately after birth. Ever since, they have lived in keeper Jeannette Wurms’ living room on the zoo’s premises.

Jeannette’s dog Leon quickly adopted the role of surrogate mother, acting as educator and entertainer.

And this isn’t new for Jeannette or Leon – they have reared tiger and lion cubs before.
