Dozens remain missing in Japan floods as death toll reaches 176

Japanese authorities say the death toll from landslides and intense flooding on the country’s west side has risen to 176. Dozens more remain unaccounted for. Military forces have been deployed to conduct search and rescue operations. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited flood-stricken parts and met local residents staying at an evacuation center. He also paid silent tribute to the victims. This weather disaster is Japan’s worst in three decades.
