Zongzi is a traditional food closely associated with the Dragon Boat Festival. Sticky rice and various fillings are wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. People eat this dish to commemorate the death of ancient patriotic poet, Qu Yuan. Legend has it that he drowned himself in the Miluo River after enemies took his kingdom. His countrymen threw packets of rice into the river to prevent the fish from eating his body. However, over the years the art of making Zongzi is slowly dying as fewer and fewer younger people know how to make them. Our reporters met one woman keen to keep the craft alive.
