Dunhuang in Gansu Province set to host first Silk Road Expo in September 2016

Construction work goes on round-the-clock in Gansu Province’s ancient oasis city of Dunhuang, for a 125,000-square meter complex that will host the first Silk Road Expo in September 2016, gathering countries along the economic belt. As a key hub in the ancient Silk Road, Gansu was a prosperous region thousands of years ago. With the ongoing revival of the Silk Road through the Belt and Road Initiative, the province aims to bring back its past economic glory. It is currently preparing to come out as a modern-day Silk Road hub with great fanfare.
