China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said Beijing places high hopes on Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s first state visit to the country. Spokesperson for the ministry, Hua Chunying, said China is willing to resolve disputes through talks and negotiations to improve bilateral ties with the Philippines, adding that Duterte’s trip is expected to deepen cooperation and mutual trust between the two sides.
