Indonesia’s Culture and Education Minister has proposed a plan to extend school hours for elementary and junior high school students. But with Indonesia’s already strict schooling system, the plan is proving to be controversial. Parents are speaking out against the system which will keep children in school for more than nine hours. After widespread criticism, the minister said the all-day school plan was just a rough idea that needs thorough and careful assessment. The minister said he would invite educational experts and psychologists to further assess the plan.
