EFLU Students Protest Over Suspension Of 11 Scholars

After University of Hyderabad, students of English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) went on protest with dozens of students sleeping in the lawn on Monday against proctorial board’s disciplinary action against 11 students. Students at the varsity were planning a strike over the rustication of 11 scholars by the administration in October 2015 for engaging in `anti-university’ activities. Arjab Sarkar, a student, was expelled for his Facebook post criticising the Swachch Bharat Abhyan on campus, while another was expelled allegedly over screening of a controversial short film. In view of the protest, the proctorial board held a meeting and waived the disciplinary action taken against the students. “The board has recommended that the action taken against the students be waived. The recommendations have been forwarded to the vice-chancellor. Only after an approval from the VC, further decisions will be taken,” said Prakash Kona, proctor of EFLU.
