Egg-sized hailstones lash NW China

A severe hailstorm lashed Yulin City,Shaanxi Province for more than half an hour on Monday, causing heavy damage to crops.

The shower of giant hailstones landed in both the city proper and one of the city’s suburbs, with some hailstones as big as an egg.

“None of the big corn leaves was left, and all the melons were smashed to the ground.”

“The hailstorm caused several crop damage. We’ll instruct local residents to plant them again,or offer villagers subsidies if that’s impossible.”

The hailstorm damaged over 8,000 hectares of corps, causing direct economic losses of more than 740,000 U.S. dollars.
