The Muslim holy month of Ramadan began on Monday, with final preparations still underway in Egypt. Although it is a month of fasting, food consumption increases by 20 percent in Ramadan. To ease its citizens’ burden, the Egyptian government established hundreds of outlets around the country which sell food products at lower prices than on the market.
