Having his bird view at 6,080 meters above the sea level, Francisco Lopez sensed the peak of his career in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert, as the most successful motorist in this South American country.

“From here I ride my motorcycle in northern Chile. The whole way not only let me know where the bike trails, but aslo gives me physical and mental practice. This is a very important part of our sport in the desert.”

To get as high as he could in his motherland, this became the foremost motivation for Lopez, who won a slew of titles of the Dakar Rally from 2009 to 2013.

Dakar titles were just not enough to fulfill Lopez’s ambition. This was why he decided to conquer the desert with its peak as his goal.

On his battery-power motor and against extreme weathers, Lopez finally made his dream come true in November with 9 days in the desert and the assistance of 16 staff members.
