Enough evidence against RK Pachauri

There’s enough evidence to proceed with a case against Teri founder RK Pachauri who’s accused of sexually harassing a woman colleague, a Delhi Court said on Saturday (May 14). The court fixed July 11 as the date to supply a copy of the chargesheet to Pachauri. The court said there’s enough material in the police chargesheet against Pachauri under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to sexual harassment. These are sections that deal with assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty, sexual harassment, stalking and gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman. The court dropped the charge of punishment for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the IPC, which the police had included in the chargesheet. Pachauri has been charged with sexual harassment by a woman researcher who used to work directly under the veteran climate scientist and later resigned from her job as she felt ‘let down’ by TERI. She has now moved to another organisation.
