About 2.5 billion people were at risk of dengue globally, according to the World Health Organization. Around 70 per cent of them were in the Asia-Pacific region. A meeting of experts in Jakarta in July 2019 would be looking at the rise of dengue in the Asia Pacific. Dr Duane Gubler, director of the Asia-Pacific Institute of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases at the Duke-NUS Medical School, discussed more with CNA.
