EU pledges new financial aid package for Afghanistan

The European Union’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, has agreed to try to relaunch Afghanistan’s stalled peace process after almost forty years of conflict. Mogherini also announced that the EU will pledge 1.2 billion euros, or 1.34 billion US dollars, to the country per year until 2020. The European Union was also seeking a negotiated peace deal, bringing together the United States, China, India, and Pakistan.
