EU to provide Greece with 90 fingerprinting devices

More than one million refugees and migrants braved the seas in 2015 seeking sanctuary in Europe. Most entered through Greece’s outlying islands. As the influx continues through the winter months, the European Commission has said it will provide the government with more than one million euros in emergency funding for the acquisition of 90 fingerprinting devices. These devices will be used to ensure proper identification and registration of migrants, and will be connected to the central EURODAC system.
