Eurogroup rejects Greek baillout extension

An extraordinary meeting between euro finance ministers ended on Saturday night with still no deal on a Greek bailout extension.

The Greek parliament has backed plans for a referendum on international creditors’ terms for a new bailout, a move which has been criticized by Eurozone partners, who have rejected a request to extend the bailout programme past the end of month deadline.

The country is facing a default that could push it out of the euro and cause ripple effects across the European economy and beyond.
