The past week has been perhaps the busiest for migrant crossings from Libya to Italy this year. It has also been the most unfortunate with about 14,000 people rescued, and hundreds feared dead. In just three days, three accidents at sea took place. The first happened last Wednesday, when an overcrowded boat capsized. Days later, and almost a hundred people are still unaccounted for. On Thursday, another boat from the Libyan port of Sabratha sank, leaving 550 people missing. And on Friday’s accident, 135 people were rescued and 45 bodies pulled from the water. The number of people who went missing from the latest capsize is still not clear.
