EU’s Barnier describes withdrawal agreement as a ‘lose lose’ deal

The European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier has called the withdrawal agreement with the United Kingdom a “lose-lose” deal. He made the statement in Brussels at the European Parliament before the European Committee of the Regions. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Theresa May’s office said parliament’s vote on her Brexit deal will still go ahead on December 11. This came after a British newspaper reported senior ministers were urging the prime minister to delay the vote in order to prevent a defeat that might bring down the government. May has repeatedly said that if lawmakers reject her deal with Brussels, the only alternatives are leaving without a deal or reversing Brexit. On the eve of the parliament vote, the EU’s top court is to deliver a judgment on whether the UK can unilaterally halt Brexit.
