EU’s new plan aims to reduce African migration via Libya

The European Union has presented a new plan to reduce the number of African migrants arriving in Europe via Libya. It’s offering up to 62 billion euros of new funding to help countries cut the number of people trying to reach Europe. But opponents say that by trying to shift responsibility for migrants to their countries of origin, the EU is setting a dangerous precedent, which could provide countries like Kenya with an excuse to close their refugee camps.
