Ex-Israeli PM Ehud Olmert begins 19-month prison sentence for bribery

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has become the country’s first ex-prime minister to serve jail time, as he began a 19-month sentence for bribery and obstruction of justice on Monday. He was given 18 months in 2014 for taking bribes in connection with the construction of Jerusalem’s massive Holyland residential complex. Last week, an Israeli court handed him an additional month for obstructing justice.
