In an exclusive interview to TIMES NOW’s Megha Prasad, actor Irrfan Khan speaks on the debate over Pakistani artists.
Khan questions the silence of Pakistan artists and also said that ties must not be maintained with a country that disturbs our nation.
“I cannot talk on behalf (Pakistani artists) of them. May be you can guess or contemplate why they must have not given the statement. May be their countries are not open enough for them to speak their mind. We should have asked them why they are not giving statements,” he said.
The actor said that Indian Government must stop giving visas to the Pakistani artists and stop trading with the Pakistan, “Ties must not be maintained with a country that disturbs our nation,” actor added.
The Bollywood film industry is divided on their views when it comes to allowing Pakistani actors to remain in India.
Salman Khan had said that they (Pakistani film stars working in India) were “artistes and not terrorists”, evoking sharp reactions from various quarters.
Khan’s comments came after the Pakistani actors were given a 48-hour “deadline” by the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) to leave the country in the wake of the Uri terror attack.
