Exploring China’s deep sea robot

Qianlong No.2, China’s autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) completed its first exploration in the southwest Indian Ocean early this month and came back home to Shenyang, where it was developed.

The unmanned submersible was independently designed by Chinese scientists and can dive to a depth of 4,500 meters.

Qianlong No.2 has been under research and development since 2011 in Shenyang Institute of Automation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
