The horror of life in Syria under the so-called Islamic State was opened up to the world this week. Journalists from Britain’s Sky News visited the northern town of al-Shadadi where they found nothing but horror. Al-Shadadi is the last major town before the ISIL headquarters of Raqqa. Its capture from the terrorist group is seen as an important military success to reduce its stranglehold on parts of Syria.
