Extra protection for sharks and rays

NGOs, charity organisations and scientists from all over the world who work together to develop better protection for sharks and rays, are gathered at the CITES Conference of Parties in Johannesburg. To see if the government will protect additional species under this trade convention. An Appendix II listing for this species will ensure that international trade is supplied by sustain ably managed, and accurately recorded fisheries that are not detrimental to the status of the wild populations they exploit. Trade controls under CITES will encourage comprehensive management for this species, and preserve their population for generations to come.
