Regional and western powers are in Nigeria for talks on how to combat terrorist group Boko Haram, as the UN warns of the militants’ growing ties to Islamic State and the threat the group poses to African security. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari opened the summit in the capital, Abuja. Discussions are expected to focus on the formal deployment of a new regional force comprising troops from Nigeria and its neighbors Benin, Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
