Fire leaves hundreds homeless in India slum

Around 250 settlements in a shanty town in northern India’s Haryana state were gutted in a major fire, leaving hundreds of people homeless. No casualties have been reported yet. Firefighters rushed to Kherki Daula village in Gurgaon to douse the flames. Fires in slums during the summer months are quite common in India, as many use naked flames to cook, while electricity lines operate at full capacity.
