Firefighters continue to battle multiple wildfires across California, stoked by the state’s high heat, low humidity and historic drought. Firefighters have been battling a wildfire about 64 kilometers north of Los Angeles since Tuesday. Another fire ravaged a hilly area near the scenic coastal town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, churning through almost 7,000 hectares and destroying 20 homes, and around 3,000 firefighters have been struggling to control the so-called sand fire in an area on the northwestern fringes of the Angeles National Forest since Friday.
