The US Coast Guard announced on Friday that it intercepted a ship carrying 5440 kilogrammes of cocaine off the southern coast of Mexico on July 19. The vessel was carrying an estimated 181 million US dollar worth of cocaine, according to officials. Discovered about 300 kilometres off the southern coast of Mexico, around two tonnes were allegedly lost in the Pacific as the vessel was being towed. Four smugglers were also arrested.
