Flood collapses dike in central China

At about 9:30 a.m., members of a patrol staff discovered a dike in Huarong County, central China’s Hunan Province, to be leaking. The water was rapidly flowing from 1 cubic meter per second to 10 cubic meters per second. Two hours later, at about 11 a.m., a 10-meter section of the dike had collapsed. But the local government was quick to respond and rescued 11,000 people in the area without any casualties.
