Various parts of central and southwest China were hit by hailstorms over the past weekend. Hailstones as big as chicken eggs hit a total of nine villages in Quanzhou county in the city of Guilin for half an hour, destroying buildings and damaging crops. In central China’s Hunan Province, hailstones fell suddenly in the city of Yongzhou. Roofs of homes were broken, with tiles scattered everywhere.
“This was a heavy hailstorm, which destroyed all my grapes. I will have nothing from the 13 hectares of grapes,” said Cen Lin, a grape farmer in Sandu county of Guizhou Province.
