Former Taiwan leader rejects South China Sea arbitration

Former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou has rejected the South China Sea arbitration. The tribunal said Taiping Island is a reef rather than an island, based on a lack of water resources. Ma has disputed that, showing water he collected there in January. He said Taiping is an island with plenty of fresh water, and added that the island is self-sufficient and has a hospital with three doctors and 10 beds, proving it does not need to rely on external resources.
