Four-country talks on Taliban to begin in Pakistan

In Pakistani capital Islamabad, four-way talks aimed at reviving dialogue between Kabul and the Afghan Taliban are set to begin. Pakistan’s foreign office said senior officials from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States are expected on Monday. The “roadmap” talks are meant to lay the groundwork for direct dialogue between the Afghan government and the Islamist group. Though, the Taliban themselves will not be present at Monday’s meeting.
