Most of the wildfires in southern France that started on Wednesday have been put out. The fires injured three people, destroyed 35 houses, and burnt through 4,500 hectares of land. High winds, combined with dry weather conditions, stimulated the spread of the fires, with thick smoke visible across the region. Nearly 1,800 firemen were deployed to contain the damage and attend to the victims.
