Euro 2016 has started smoothly in France but the tournament will pose the Paris government with a number of tests, including dealing with a strike by rubbish collectors across the city. Workers, who are angry at the government’s refusal to negotiate over a contested labor reform law, have decided to extend industrial action until June 14. Paris’s Mayor said about 50 private rubbish trucks had been dispatched to rid the city of waste left piled up by striking workers.
