Labor protesters have set fire to a police car in Paris, as officers from the city’s force staged a protest of their own. Police took to the streets to demand more support after weeks of almost daily clashes with young people opposing a controversial labor reform bill. Local media reported there were police officers inside the car when it was torched. They were evacuated to safety when the car went up in flames. The Alliance Police union condemned the incident as “anti-cop hatred” and called for a midday rally in Paris’s Place de la Republique on Wednesday. Some activists denounced the police protest as provocation, and many were angered that they were blocked from reaching the Place de la Republique.
