French carrier in position for air strikes on ISIL from Monday

France’s defense minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said a French aircraft carrier sent to launch air strikes against Islamic State in Syria will be “operational” on Monday. In a televised interview on Sunday, Le Drian declined to say when jets on board were going to bomb IS-held territory. Meanwhile, the aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman, departed the US for a scheduled seven-month deployment to the Middle East.
