Gentrification threatens Chinatown culture

Chinatowns in America first emerged in the late 1800s. They were areas where Chinese immigrants could find a sense of community with people who spoke the same language, cooked familiar foods and helped them acclimate to their new world. Many of these Chinatowns, while still playing a vital role for new arrivals as well as the existing communities, are under threat from urban development.
