German far-right leader faces charge of hate speech

The founder of a German xenophobic and anti-Islamic movement is facing hate speech charges in court for branding refugees “cattle” and “scum” on social media. Lutz Bachmann, founder of the far-right “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the Occident” movement, was charged last October with inciting racial hatred. The court said his comments, which date back to 2014, “disrupted public order” and constituted an “attack on the dignity” of refugees.
