German minister: terrorism link not ruled out in Ansbach explosion

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told a press conference in Berlin that the investigation on the attack outside a music festival in Ansbach, a city in southern German state of Bavaria, was still in an early stage.

So he said a connection with international terrorism can not be ruled out at this moment.

According to the minister, mental disorder, and a combination of the disorder and terrorism, are also possible in this case, as the man managed to stay in Germany thanks to medical certificates proving mental instability after the deportation decision was made.

De Maiziere said the attacker had tried to commit suicide twice and had received temporary treatment in a psychiatric hospital.
