During the Spring Festival season, the whole Dietfurt town in Germany turns Chinese!
The celebration reaches its peak as the rule of the town was handed over to a “Chinese emperor,” who is chosen from among the townspeople.
It is thought that townspeople refused to pay tax when a bishop demanded more in the Middle Ages. They closed the doors and locked their walled town down.
So the helpless tax collectors likened the locals to the Chinese who took shelter behind the Great Wall of China and waited for the enemy to leave.
