Germany: Asylum seekers involved in New Year’s Eve assaults

German Interior Ministry said on Friday that federal police had identified 31 people by name who had played a role in Cologne’s New Year’s Eve violence, and 18 of them were in the process of seeking asylum in Germany. More than 120 women are reported to have been robbed, threatened or sexually molested by gangs of mostly drunk men between 18 and 35 while celebrating on New Year’s Eve near Cologne’s Gothic cathedral.
