Giant spider crabs amass in Port Philip Bay in Australia

One of the world’s most spectacular marine migrations is now underway in Australia, as hundreds of thousands of giant spider crabs start their annual journey to the country’s southern shores. The giant spider crab is known as the largest crustaceans on Earth, with a life span of up to 100 years. The crabs usually live deep in the ocean, but they climb up in shallow waters to molt as the waters turn cold.
