Central and western Caracas becomes a sea of red, as thousands swarm to streets to show their support for the government and President Nicolas Maduro.
(Soundbite) Nicolas Maduro, President of Venezuela
“On Saturday I call for national military exercises of the armed forces of the people and militia to prepare for any scenario, because this land is sacred and we must enforce it.”
Due to ever rising pressure from the opposition force, the Venezuelan government has prolonged its economic emergency into state emergency, which might remain effective until 2017.
And a military exercise is expected one week later to hedge against any mishap.
Meanwhile in the eastern part of the capital city, the opposition force mobilizes at least 1,000 people onto the streets, insisting on a referendum to terminate Maduro’s term in advance, together with an early election.
