Greek stock market suffers steep fall on first day of reopening

Greece’s stock market re-opened on Monday, but closed with heavy losses. The stock market had been shut down for five-week prior to Monday’s opening.
The Athens Stock Exchange General Index declined by 16 percent on the first day, recording the biggest loss in the stock market’s history.
The composite index fell 23 percent immediately after the opening of the session. Meanwhile, bank shares plummeted 30 percent, taking the hardest hit.
