Border police in Fangchenggang, south China’s Guangxi, cracked a case of suspected wildlife smuggling on Thursday. They seized 70 frozen Siamese crocodiles and tails from 88 Siamese crocodiles. During a routine check-up, the border police found that the number of loaded cargos on the list submitted by the driver was inconsistent with those actually loaded on the truck. The police then checked the 16 boxes on the truck where they found frozen Siamese crocodiles.
Siamese crocodile is a freshwater crocodile mainly inhabiting Southeast Asia. It is a critically endangered animal, and is already extirpated from many regions.
